Who is Insight & Ingenuity?

Insight & Ingenuity is founded and run by Gillian Verga, a Harvard MBA with sixteen years of experience and three years as a leader in social media. Gillian founded Weightcircles, a social network for healthy weight loss, in 2006 and continues to run that business as well as leveraging her community-leadership knowledge to advise others on social media development. Gillian has consulted for clients such as NetApp, Lam Research, Coherent, SanDisk, and Acterna.

Background

Gillian has a diverse background and her client work has touched marketing, operations, product marketing, spares, supply chain, sales operations, and legal departments. She is an expert at bringing together people from different functional groups and aligning them towards a common objective or strategy. She moves easily between the strategic and the tactical, and does not hesitate to roll up her sleeves and get things done herself, all the while keeping an eye on the strategic goal.

Philosophy

Gillian’s philosophy toward social media is that it’s a cultural shift for companies that encompasses far more than the marketing department. Success in social media requires a constant desire by the company to improve it’s products and services for customers. True social media is not a new channel for publishing, but the initiation of a dialogue with customers. This requires not only talking but listening and responding. All parts of the company can listen, learn, and improve through this customer dialogue.
